hmm, could you upload a higher quality version? i honestly couldn't see any difference between this, 16 mm, film chain transfers, video, and so on... ;-)

Today I got back my first 4 rolls of PRO8 stock. I did the "trailer" package where they process and telecine it. The 50D stock was good with minimal grain, as was the 200T stock. (Which is just Vision 200T anyway) but the 800T stock was extremly grainy. I expected some grain, but there is a LOT. I will say however, that the stuff I shot with 800 was inside lit under a 200 watt bulb. (So thats pretty good) Here are some examples of footage shot with the diff stocks:
Playdough (800T): http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/PLAYDOH.MOV
Ferris Wheel (50D, 3 sec exposures) http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/Ferris_Wheel.mov
Timelapse (200T) http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/Timelapse.mov
Mr. White (800T, Resivoir dogs anyone) http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/Mr_white.mov
Long Exposures (50D) http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151..._esposures.mov
All in all, the stocks were good and the transfer was acurate but I dont think it was worth almost $350.

They are quicktime .mov files, so if you dont have quicktime you cant play them. But you can download quicktime here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ Also, the new clips should be up by 8:00 PST.

Here are the new higher rez versions of the clips. They are now 640 X 480 quicktime movs. Im not linking to the timelapse one again because it isnt worth the bandwidth.
Mr White: http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/MrWhite.mov
Long Exposures: http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/exposures.mov
Ferris Wheel: http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/feriswheel.mov
Playdough: http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/karl151k/playdough.mov
I would like to add that I might have been a little bit unfair about the grainy-ness of the 800 stock. Considering the lighting situation, it did a fine job. I just wish I had more light for it when I shot it.

cool. i thought the 800 asa stuff looked awesome. i've shot a lot of it in 16 mm, and i was afraid the grain would be way too heavy in super-8, but i must say this came close. i think i'll order a test roll right away...
